Obama, You Are No Jack Kennedy!

During the 1988 Vice Presidential Debates at the Omaha, Nebraska Civic Auditorium, Democratic running mate of Presidential Hopeful Michael Dukakis, Sen. Lloyd Benson's memorable putdown comment of Republican Candidate Sen. Dan Quayle was,  “I knew Jack Kennedy, Jack Kennedy was a friend of mine, and you Senator, are no Jack Kennedy!" ~  That applies to President Obama today!

Obama green-lighted unprecedented access of the Navy Seals crew who killed Osama Bin Laden to Hollywood filmmakers.  Director Kathryn Bigelow and screenwriter Mark Boal, who made 2008's Iraq war drama "The Hurt Locker", a very liberal biased film, are behind the planned picture of the risky May raid. The movie is scheduled for release on Oct. 12, 2012, less than a month before next year's general election - an October surprise blown this week by the New York Times.

 Movie Disclaimer

I personally remember fifty-one years ago when Jack Kennedy was elected President, and you Barack Obama, are no Jack Kennedy!  I recall that JFK couldn't even pull off his own contrived movie based on his weak war record. You don't even have any military experience, but now have the starring role as leading the operations responsible for killing Osama Bin Laden in a major Hollywood movie.  Silly boy, it would be like you trying to run the biggest company in the whole world with no real business experience at all.  Not only would it be impossible to depict, it would be unbelievable to watch and it would be a box-office flop too!

  "PT 109" 

The 1963 biographical movie shows the events of John F. Kennedy in command of PT 109, a WW II Motor Torpedo Boat.  This movie was done originally to boost Jack Kennedy's flagging popularity due to his impending, huge "New Frontier" Federal Spending Programs, growing 1960's social unrest and the escalation of his Vietnam War activities. Sounds like some familiar rhetoric heard these days about another Democratic President?

Plot

This WW II adventure chronicles the real-life courage of President John F. Kennedy when he was a Navy lieutenant in charge of the illustrious PT 109. Among the adventures they had was the courageous rescue of Marines stranded upon the isle of Choiseul. As they flee, their little boat is split in half by a Japanese destroyer. The survivors then make a long, dangerous swim to an island. One of them is too badly injured to do it, so Kennedy helps him. Later, the future leader braves many dangers to get to another island to radio for help.

Review

PT 109 is a moderately entertaining war picture, albeit an overlong one. At some two hours and twenty minutes, it tends to drag and gets repetitive; one wishes director Leslie Martinson had cut it down by half an hour or so. The character of Kennedy is also painted a bit too positively and as a bit too much of a take charge hero, although this is something that is often a problem with films of this sort. 

Epilogue

I went to a producer's screening at the Screen Director's Guild Theater in Hollywood where it got a lukewarm reception. The film was basically DOA at the box office as it floundered in theaters across the country.  Ironically, PT 109 was released only five months before President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

WITI-TV, MILWAUKEE— The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department released 911 audio from the opening night of State Fair. These tapes display the graphic details of attacks, some of which were racially motivated. We also spoke with someone who could put that part of the story in perspective.

Most callers tell dispatchers they see a racially motivated melee. One caller told dispatchers, "A whole bunch of black dudes f----- jumped on me. I'm bleeding all over."

West Allis Police recently released a statement on what took place at State Fair on opening night. They say there are currently nine assaults, one robbery without a weapon and one attempted robbery with a weapon being investigated.

Investigators are cooperating with the Milwaukee Police Department to identify the people who perpetrated the opening night crimes. The suspects have been described as African Americans. The victims were either Caucasian or Hispanic.

Additional police officers will be deployed in the neighborhoods surrounding State Fair. West Allis Police call this their Closing Night initiative. They have also installed several new cameras at key points surrounding State Fair Park.

Video Interview FOX6 News spoke to Arno Michaels who understands all too well the hate driven mob mentality as a former leader of Milwaukee's white power movement more than 20 years ago. He says, "When I was that age I made these kids look like Boy Scouts. I routinely attacked people, because of the color of their skin."

These days, Michaels helps young people and anyone who will listen understand and stop violence. Michaels warns tough talk and more anger will only make a repeat of the opening night event more likely.

The West Allis Police Department released a timeline outlining the calls for support made that evening.

Myth #1: Republicans spent like drunken sailors.

Fact: Federal spending from 1960 through 2000 averaged 20.3% of GDP, with a slightly upward trend. The average over all Bush years, 2001 through 2008, was 19.6% of GDP – below the historical average. The 2001-2008 average deficit was also below the 1960-2000 average. 

Myth #2: Republicans exploded the federal debt.

Fact: Per the US Constitution, "all bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives." Democrats controlled the House from 1955 through 1994, leaving the federal debt held by the public at 49.2% of GDP. Republicans then controlled the House from 1995 through 2006 and left it at 36.5% of GDP — below the level left by Democrat Congresses.

Myth #3: Bush Presidency generated a high debt % of GDP. 
Fact: At the end of Bush’s presidency the debt was 40.2% of GDP. Now, two years post-Bush and four years of a Democrat Congress, the debt is now 72% of GDP, the highest it’s been since Harry Truman was paying off World War II.

A Look into the Future - China the New Superpower in 2016

If We Know the Past 3,057 Years!

Before you freak out, below is a quick one minute history lesson about the Chinese.  Remember that this country has been around much longer than the United States and you MUST understand their founding principles, which are absolutely the opposite of ours.

China – Historical Frameworks

The earliest recorded human settlements in what is today called China were discovered in the Huang He basin and date from about 5000 B.C.

Confucian or Legalist scholars in ancient China—perhaps as far back as the late Zhōu Dynasty (c. 1046–256 BC) of which the Zhōu Dynasty lasted longer than any other dynasty in Chinese history, categorized all socio-economic groups into four broad and hierarchical occupations (in descending order): the shi (scholars, or gentry), the nong (peasant farmers), the gong (artisans and craftsmen), and the shang (merchants).

Chinese society of the Zhōu Dynasty evolved during the Song Dynasty (AD 960–1279) was marked by political and legal reforms, a philosophical revival of Confucianism, and the development of cities beyond administrative purposes into centers of trade, industry, and maritime commerce.

Wealthy landholders and officials possessed the resources to better prepare their sons for the civil service examinations yet they were often rivaled in their power and wealth by merchants of the Song period. Merchants frequently colluded commercially and politically with officials, despite the fact that scholar-officials looked down on mercantile vocations as less respectable pursuits than farming or craftsmanship. 

The military also provided a means for advancement in Song society for those who became officers, even though soldiers were not highly respected members of society.

Although certain domestic and familial duties were expected of women in Song society, they nonetheless enjoyed a wide range of social and legal rights in an otherwise patriarchal society. 

Two glaring differences make the
United States a Winner!

ONE - Our religious basis is Judeo-Christian principles which value individuals and their souls verses Confucianism that celebrates a more collective view of one's personal value predicated upon a societal base as a hierarchical contributor for the good of all. 

The focus of Confucian thinking is "the dao (way) of culture". As a political thinker, Confucius taught that to cultivate one’s behavior into family reverence (xiao), often called filial piety, formed the basis for a stable and moral society, as it would lead to proper respect to all in authority including the ruler. Because this Confucian philosophy uplifts the spirit in this way, it attracted much attention from generations of rulers in history to promote the present Chinese Communist Government's goal of maintaining psychological control of the masses through indoctrination of collective state thinking to promote reliance on central government dependence. 

Conversely, Christianity promotes personal strength through oneself with the guidance directly from God's power to inspire and sustain individual perseverance on how to live and succeed in life under the free will to make personal choices - our governing democratic principles. 

TWO - China has a highly ingrained hierarchical caste system embedded within its societal psyche for centuries which severely limits individual advancement and opportunities.

Currently, official data based on China's urban population states that it has grown from 19% in 1980 to 50% in 2010, which is way off from 70% of many developed countries, indicating more growth to come.  86% of retail sales is from urban areas. 

Here is the rub, without an "urban residence permit", a "hukoa", rural residents are confined to the outer margins of urban life.  It is difficult to cross the status line which means exclusion from the mainstream urban education system and labor markets.  A bigger population does not mean its better, but instead more social unrest and political turmoil resulting in an unstable government and economy too.  

The Chinese people are also seeing on the Internet what is going on around the world and they are rapidly changing age-old thinking while embracing Western ideas like higher wages, benefits and lifestyles. 

The United States, much to the disdain and disappointment of many Progressive Liberals and President Obama, was founded upon no caste system or hierarchy of designated categories to rate individuals and groups to exclude or marginalize them. Opportunities are based upon individual abilities, education and training to take personal responsibility for advancement.

 ~ Predictions for the Future ~

China currently does have the burgeoning business success, but the shrinking societal infrastructures will be its underpinning flaw.  The government will simply collapse under the horrific burden of class warfare to satisfy the current citizenry's needs in housing, wages and benefits; supporting the aging population health services and their needs; and then future planning to survive with a dwindling population due to a decades long zero growth baby birth and sterilization program that does not effectively replace worker productivity.

The United States of America still is the greatest nation that has ever existed on this planet and will survive. As much as Conservatives, Liberals, ne'er do well pundits and talking heads are down on our country about its credit woes, we will get through all of our problems.
